Excuses

Just the other day I was talking with my daughter, Gaia, about how we were unable to attend something, and I said, “just tell them we have other plans or something like that”, and she looked at me and said, “Why do I need to offer an excuse? No is the answer and there should be no need for an explanation.”

Full stop. She was right.

Why do we make excuses for when we need to say no to things?

Even making up excuses for ourselves on why we aren’t moving forward, taking a leap, making lifestyle changes, doing the workout, choosing the healthier option, building our purposeful business, etc., etc. - we do it all the time.

Excuses are effective at helping us fool ourselves.

So really, what is blocking us from breaking through to where we really want to be and/or do?

What we avoid with excuses is the exact thing that will set us free in breaking the cycle of hiding from what truly matters.

Oftentimes, it is just the fear of transition and change that keeps us from stepping into our truth or bettering our lives.

Let’s flip the script and understand we are the ones in charge of this one precious life, and excuses are not needed to live our purpose, create the life we always wanted, and be the champion of our own destiny.

The moment we stop hiding behind excuses is when everything changes.
